Welcome to STL FHC! I am so thankful for each and every athlete that becomes part of our FHamily. I have a passion for coaching, making a positive impact on someone's journey through life, building confidence in others, and yes--of course field hockey!
My love for field hockey began my freshman year of high school. It was fall tryouts when I picked up a stick for the first time and I haven't put it down since. I went on to play field hockey all four years of high school and spent 3 of those years as a team captain and was awarded MVP my senior year. After high school I was offered a field hockey scholarship and intended to play in college. Pre-season of my freshman year I was hurt and unable to continue playing. I transferred from Lindenwood University to MIZZOU. I graduated with my B.S. in Nutrition & Exercise Physiology. During my college years I worked as a Strength & Conditioning Coach Intern for their athletics program! It was so rewarding, and it was then I knew I loved working with athletes and coaching was my true calling.
When I moved back to St. Louis, I began coaching at Ursuline Academy (where I attended high school and my passion for the game began)! I coached at UA for 9 seasons--the majority of those as Varsity Head Coach. Once Jake and I had our 3rd child I knew it was time to fulfill my ultimate dream of starting my own FH club. I want to help grow this game that has given me so much in my life. Truly, I am the person I am today because of this sport.

My field hockey experience is limited to playing around at a park with my wife (Andrea) while we were dating. From there, I watched her coach throughout the years and saw her passion and drive for the sport. I immediately started to enjoy the sport because it is similar to soccer in a lot of ways. Growing up I played soccer, basketball & volleyball. My love for sports is rooted in the ideals and values learned while you play. When we started STL FHC I quickly learned that coaching a sport is such a cool experience and that you get to know the athletes on such a higher level as you grow. Together, with the culture of St. Louis Field Hockey Club and the people involved, we will grow this great sport into the light it deserves.

A little about me your friendly British hockey coach!
My wife Sam, our son Rhys and I arrived in St Louis from the UK in January 2023 following a promotion for Sam, who works for Enterprise. We’ve quickly settled into life here in St Louis and have been fortunate enough to find a new Hockey home with St Louis Field Hockey Club.
My father played hockey at the highest level in the UK, Germany and Holland and has been, and still is, a huge influence on me and my two younger brothers who both play. As such I’ve grown up on the side of a hockey pitch where I’ve have had a hockey stick in my hand even before I could walk! I’ve played hockey all my life up to UK regional level and have coached since I was 18 years old. It’s safe to say that I am from and we are a hockey mad family!
As I’ve got older (and thus slower) I’ve found myself over the last few years or so transitioning from being more of a player to a more active coaching role. Field Hockey in the UK is huge and I’ve coached teams from under 8s all the way to Adult ladies and Adults men’s 1st teams in regional leagues in the UK. I’ve had the privilege of coaching a couple of players in the current England and GB men’s squads, as well as playing with a couple of GB Olympians in my younger days.
My family and I are so excited to be part of the STL FHC story and hope to contribute to the club’s growth and development.

Hello, I’m Bill Hogg. I have only recently gotten into field hockey since my daughters joined STLFHC back in 2022. My growing curiosity of the sport led me down a rabbit hole I’m glad I explored, and I can’t wait to learn more. I have always been the type of person to play every sport I can growing up. This is something my wife and I have in common. Over a large portion of my adult life I have coached youth sports, from littles up to high school. I’ve coached track and field, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and softball. With coaching I’ve come to realize success isn’t always about wins and losses, it’s about helping these young athletes to be the best versions of themselves on and off the field.

I started playing field hockey in the summer of 2022 in the adult league. Honestly, I started playing so I could have another sport in common with my daughters, and I quickly grew to love it. (Spoiler alert: they’ve been playing for a year and are much better than me!) I am very competitive and enjoy playing any and all sports with my husband and kids. It’s a great way to stay young and fit and to relieve daily stress.
